I don't live in California but it looks like the close landscapes from my home a lot.

this is just up a bit from the Mt.Baldy Village, along the first leg of the Glendora Ridge Road... this area is a part of the Angelus National Forest, which straddles the line between Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties...

so, where DO you live, JF...?

I live in South of France in a little village near Perpignan. Perpignan (Perpinya) was the capital of Mallorca Kingdom (1276-1349) which then was integrated to Spain. This region called "Pyrénées-Orientales" is more or less the historic "Roussillon" (Rossello in Catalan) which was annexed by France in 1659 (Pyrénées Treaty).
The climate is Mediterranean and the lanscape mountainous in the hinterland (Vallespir, Conflent, Capcir, Cerdagne, Corbières).

wow... who'd have thought that a ragged mountain pass less than 40 miles from Los Angeles would compare favorably to anything as "fabled" as "The South Of France"... truly honored, good Sir!

"The grass is greener on the other side of the fence". Everywhere there are wonderful landscapes but due to having them under eyes we do not see them any more.

a very good point...

I was lucky enough to be able to learn to "see the world"
thru the eyes of my youngest two kidz as they took their first looks
at the world... obviously, my age and experience base "polluted"
my perceptions somewhat, but it was always instructive to try to
see things form their POV... things looks different from lower down, to begin with, and if you haven't seen a thing before, the discovery can be an "event" unto itself...
