most of Southern California had that horrible dirty gold color to the skies
from all the combustibles and soot in the air most days of the week...
where i grew up, we had a working Kaiser Steel mill the next town over
(which later became the site for many of the scenes in "Terminator 2"),
so the air smelled of Sulphur about 6 days a week, and the sunsets
took on all the weird colors such emissions produce...
we see nicer colors in the skies these days, but they've always been interesting,
regardless of whether the air might be considered "breathable" or not, lol...
